COP22 Mohammed VI to Arrive in Marrakech on Monday Ahead of

Casablanca — King Mohammed VI is set to attend the COP22 climate change conference in Marrakech starting Monday, November 14.The sovereign was in Senegal for the past week for a friendly visit, where he delivered an historic speech commemorating the Green March and also participated in the signing of four important economic agreements.The COP22 however, which has been taking place since November 7, is also awaiting the monarch’s presence, as he is expected to attend the Africa Action Summit on November 15 and welcome leaders from various African countries.  This will be an opportune moment to again convince other African leaders to support Morocco’s re-entry to the African Union. Morocco’s request to re-enter has been in the hands of Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, head of the Union, for well over a month.The king’s presence at COP22 is important as more than 40,000 visitors from all over the world come together to try and put the Paris Agreement into concrete motion. read more
