Share Tweetcenter_img LocalNews Vendors promised to have their plight addressed before the new tourism season begins. by: – June 16, 2011 Share Vendors at this morning at the Garraway Hotel’s Conference Room.Over 100 disgruntled vendors are currently meeting with the tourism officials at the Garraway Hotel, discussing what they say are serious issues with several tourism sites on the island.The chief concerns among them are the lack of proper public conveniences at several tourist sites and the non presence of the Minister of Tourism at various sites.Vendors also called for several of the tourism sites to be upgraded and repaired.Meantime Tourism Minister Ian Douglas told the vendors that his ministry will be conducting audits at the various sites to see what repair and upgrades needs to be done.He also promised to visit the various sites at the start of the new cruise ship season.“We have the vendors here really not being able to generate an income during the summer months. We are looking at the situation; they have their mortgages to pay and their children to feed. There were a number of concerns and we will be seeking to address that,” he said.This is the first in a series of several meetings planned with various tourism stake holders during the off season.Dominica Vibes Newslast_img
